Hermandad de la Sagrada Pasion de Jesus: Lenten Images Featured in Mall Exhibit

In commemoration of the Lenten Season, the Hermandad de la Sagrada Pasion de Jesus in cooperation with Harrison Plaza Shopping Center will mount an exhibit dubbed as “CUARESMA”. The exhibit will showcase Holy Week processional images from different parts of the country including Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite and Batangas. More than 60 images and tableaus representing the events in the life, passion and death of Christ are expected to participate.

These images more popularly known as “santos” are the centerpiece of devotional activities throughout the country particularly during the Holy Week. Most santos are carved from wood, dressed in richly embroidered vestments and carry attributes or symbols that distinguish them from one another. Care of these images is usually handed down from one generation to next. The exhibit is the first major undertaking of the Hermandad de la Sagrada Pasion de Jesus, an organization established on September 14, 2007. It is composed of “santo” owners, caretakers and enthusiasts from the Philippines, North America, Europe and the Middle East. The group’s main objective is to propagate the devotion to the Most Sacred Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ as well as to promote and preserve the different Holy Week traditions and practices in the country. “CUARESMA” will run from Feb. 8 to 17, 2008 at the 2nd Level, Harrison Plaza Shopping Center, A. Mabini St., Malate, Manila. Viewing hours are from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Admission is free.

PRAYER FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE EXHIBIT

Heavenly Father, we believe that You are the source of all grace. In wishing to honor your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to propagate His Love and to proclaim His mercy to people from all walks of life, we have deemed fitting to plan and stage this lenten exhibit so that all of us may be reminded of this immense love and mercy.Lord, Giver of Life, you have willed that the holy season of Lent be a fitting period of time when Christians everywhere may renew their faith in You. Help us, as we, your unworthy servants put our time, talent, resources and effort in this endeavor so that we may be instruments in reminding our brethren to attach themselves to the public life, passion, death and resurrection of Your beloved Son, Jesus.

We fervently pray that all who will come to view the exhibit may approach you with a sincere heart both spiritually and sacramentally. Pour down your blessings, we beseech you, to all those who will take part in this endeavor, for we are confident that Your greatness would know every one of them and Your generosity towards these people immeasurable. Thank you Lord, for allowing us to be Your instruments. We realize that there is no achievement without difficulties to overcome. We pray not for easy lives, but instead for You to bestow on us Your strength. We pray not for a task equal to our capabilities but rather for our capabilities, sustained by You, may surpass our life's task. Stay with us for we rely only on you. All these we ask you, in the name of Jesus Your Son and our Lord, together with the Holy Spirit. AmenNuestro Senor Jesu Cristo de la Sagrada Pasion, miserere nobis!Maria Santisima de la Sagrada Pasion, ora pro nobis!
